Cooler cars, less CO2

A shopping mall at Saint-Aunès near Montpellier (France) is following in California’s footsteps and covering its car park with shady wooden roofs carrying solar cells. 5 472 panels will cover 8160 m².

Production is estimated at 1.42 GWh/year, enough to supply the domestic needs of more than 400 local families. The project will save more than 1 655 tonnes of CO2 annually – as much as produced by 550 private cars.

And not least: This will be a profitable investment for the shopping mall, which will sell the electricity.
