E.ON Environmental Champions

A 3 year partnership with E.ON saw teams of students and many excited E.ON volunteers leading energy and waste reduction projects in their schools and workplaces. The programme was nominated for 4 sustainability awards and engaged E.ON employees and schools across Spain, Italy, the UK and Hungary.

Key achievements included:

  • Reaching 1,000 students and employees in 4 countries, inspiring them to take action to decrease energy consumption through fun, interactive energy challenges.
  • Helping participating sites save an average of €23,000 annually through new energy saving practices.
  • Avoiding 2,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions for E.ON along the way.

E.ON is committed to its social responsibility towards the environment. The programme aims to increase employee engagement in order to improve the environmental performance and environmental culture of the company. By introducing energy audits and green travel, E.ON has completed the first phase of a 5 phase plan toward sustainability, coordinated by GAP International. Facing minor setbacks along the way, including a loss of participation by employees, E.ON is now looking to formulate a clearer strategy on how to achieve its goal of environmental sustainability.
