Member Spotlight – GAP Spain

Founded in 1996, GAP España’s mission continues to focus on improving people’s living conditions by reducing their impact on the environment. Most of the programmes delivered are based on GAP concepts such as empowerment and using digital platforms to deliver them. These programmes are designed by offering simple and uncomplicated information which in turn encourages actions that can be carried out either from home, school or work. These actions are self-evaluated, which then enables the impact of the programmes to be measured.

GAP España has also participated in eight EU funded projects since 2010. Practically all of these with GAP partners. These projects have strengthened the GAP community, and we now work closely with several GAP members. These have not just worked well on a professional basis but over the years have developed into wonderful friendships which make them such good fun to deliver!
However it is not just the EU projects that have made the GAP Community such a positive network to cooperate with. Thanks mainly to GAP UK, projects such as Water Explorer, Environmental Champions, Clean Air, etc., have all been very successful and have also achieved fantastic results.

For some years now we have looked at tourism as an area of interest, given that it is so important here in Spain. Overtourism has become a worldwide phenomena and we are working with an organization here to lessen the impact on small rural villages. We would love to develop this further if any GAP entity is also interested.
We have always been a small, nimble organization. At present there are four of us, and with the current workload we are looking to increase our numbers. Next year is our 30th anniversary and way back in 1996 when e created the association we could not have imagined the impact it was to have!
