CLYMACT

An update on the event in Athens from Isabel Sainz – GAP Spain

From 24 to 27 April, an event was held in Athens as part of the CLYMACT project, an initiative that brings together the younger generations from five European countries with the aim of sharing knowledge, ideas and experiences on sustainability and climate action. On this occasion, the meeting focused on an urgent global challenge: energy poverty.

CLYMACT is a European Union project under the CERV funding programme. The project was designed and developed by InEuropa and includes GAP Spain who work with a team from the Basque province of Bizkaia.

During the four days, Greece welcomed students from its own country, as well as from Croatia, Hungary, Italy and Spain. Participants attended workshops, activities and themed visits that gave them a better understanding of the causes and consequences of energy poverty, as well as exploring innovative solutions that they could apply in their own educational and community contexts. The diversity of perspectives from each country enriched the discussions and encouraged the creation of joint proposals.

This meeting represents another step forward in the evolution of CLYMACT, as it has strengthened the project’s international network and consolidated the role of young people as drivers of positive climate change. The next event will take place in March 2026 in Bilbao (Basque Country, Spain) and will focus on two key topics: climate change mitigation and urban waste management.
