On Thursday 21 May, Anikó from TVE Hungary led an engaging session on the issue of greenwashing with 12 participants from 10 different member organisations.
Together, we explored how difficult it can be to recognise misleading sustainability claims and discussed the growing importance of transparency and accountability.
Working in small groups, participants analysed products and reflected on how consumers can navigate confusing environmental messaging while still maintaining trust and motivation. The discussion quickly moved beyond legislation and focused on empowerment: how do we keep people engaged and hopeful while tackling such a complex topic?
One of the strongest outcomes, highlighted in the evaluation, was that “this session really helped to connect with colleagues from other member organisations”.
Participants openly shared their own approaches to addressing greenwashing and keeping audiences motivated and positive.
